WordPress ‘How-To’ Guide

Like this website? Want to make one for yourself?

No matter the motivation for creating a website, whether it be personal, professional, academic, or otherwise, WordPress can be a very good venue to do so. The advantages of WordPress include a large community and, therefore, substantial technical support. The learning curve is such that it is steep at the beginning, but tapers relatively quickly after the initial set-up. This guide is meant to alleviate some of the frustration encountered in the early stages of setting up a WordPress blog in a website-type format. It is by no means comprehensive but is intended to be a helpful accompaniement to the time- consuming introductory phase, when the majority of mistakes are made and the most exasperation encountered. I hope this guide proves useful and, in conclusion, remember to: have fun, be creative, and don’t be afraid to ask friends and colleagues for help and advice.
